Enhancing Peer to Peer learning through effective Knowledge Management  and Critical Guidance Documents for member states

AUC launches a child participation platform: On Saturday, 3rd June 2023, the AUC launched its Child Participation Platform, an interactive space designed to empower children and young people, enabling them to share their experiences, practices, and knowledge. By harnessing evidence from programs, this platform seeks to accelerate efforts to put an end to child marriage and FGM, two harmful practices that adversely affect children’s lives.

With the highest rates of child marriage and FGM prevalent across the African continent, this webinar will bring together over 150 child participants from 11 member states countries. Many of these exceptional children have been selected through our partners and Member States following the call for child participation in the AU End Harmful Practices programs and activities conducted last year.

Following its launch, the forum will be led by children and young people, providing a unique opportunity for them to voice their concerns and contribute to sustainable solutions for ending harmful practices. Their insights, experiences, and ideas will catalyze change and foster an inclusive and collaborative approach towards protecting the rights and well-being of children across Africa. Therefore, Member States and partners are lauded by the AUC to support more children and young people aged 10 to 18 years to actively participate in the platform allowing for more inclusive voices to be heard at all critical levels especially to inform effective policies and programmes against child marriage and FGM.  The child participation platform can be found here.
